PERSONAL FALL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT - PFPE INSPECTIONS

  • Check for signs of wear, fraying, or damage to the webbing.
  • Examine stitching for signs of wear or breakage.
  • Inspect all metal components for deformities, corrosion, or other damage.
  • Ensure buckles and adjustment systems are working properly.
• Lanyards:
  • Inspect for cuts, fraying, or any signs of wear.
  • Check shock absorbers for signs of deployment or damage.
  • Examine all connection points and carabiners for wear, corrosion, or damage.
• Anchor Points:
  • Confirm they are securely attached and show no signs of wear or damage.
• Connectors (e.g. carabiners, snap hooks):
  • Ensure they open and close properly.
  • Check for signs of wear, distortion, or corrosion.
• Fall Arrest Devices:
  • Ensure smooth operation without any obstructions.
  • Examine the housing and any webbing or cables for damage.
• General:
  • Check for any indications of chemical damage or UV degradation.
  • Look for any parts that might be missing or non-functional.
  • Ensure equipment is clearly labelled and within its inspection date.
